The number of Alicante residents enrolled in Valencian language proficiency tests has decreased compared to the last call. The province accounts for 25% of enrollments, compared to the 29,290 registered throughout the Comunitat. This percentage has dropped by one point.
Likewise, enrollments in the A2, B1, and B2 levels of Valencian also drop by one percentage point each, which adds up to the three-point increase that C2 has - 38% - compared to the previous year. This is partly due, according to the Generalitat, to "the expectation generated" by the approval of the Educational Freedom Law.
The implementation of this law allows citizens to obtain accreditation and certification, gradually, of different levels depending on the completed studies. With Primary Education they can certify level A2, with Secondary Education level B1, and with High School level B2 of Valencian.
Likewise, students who "have made an effort" to obtain a grade equal to or greater than seven in High School or in the university entrance exam will have their C1 level recognized. This level remains at 50% of enrollments in JQCV tests compared to others.
The drop in registrations at lower levels "continues the trend of previous years," also detailed by the Generalitat, explaining that since the creation of the evaluating body "a significant part of the Valencian population already has the certificate" to access a job or "for the simple pleasure" of having their knowledge accredited.
The ordinary tests of the Junta Qualificadora de Coneixements en Valencià are scheduled for October 19. On the first day, written comprehension, oral comprehension, and linguistic structures will be evaluated.

On a second day, between October 26 and November 16 depending on the test level, the area of oral expression and interaction will be evaluated. Regarding enrollment data, 875 people are taking level A2, 1,522 for B1; 2,950 for B2; 14,896 for C1 and 9,677 for C2.
Since the creation of JQCV in 1986 until this year, a total of 915,297 certificates have been issued for all levels through both testing and homologation. Of these, 593,537 (65%) were issued through respective tests. A total of 321,760 (35%) were issued through various planned homologations.
The level with most certificates issued by Junta Qualificadora de Coneixements de Valencià is C1 with 283,473 certificates which represent 31% of all certificates, with 91% obtained through annual tests organized by the competent Consellería in linguistic policy matters.
Currently, most homologations (85%) are for B1 level; the remaining 15% is distributed among other levels, with C1 already accounting for 8%. A total of 272,372 B1 certificates were issued through homologation and 24,435 for C1.
