After entrusting the soundtrack of their new album and performing together in Madrid, Virtuós Mediterrani and Celtas Cortos will embark on a tour through 15 Spanish cities starting next January. Thus, the symphonic 'Alone in Danger' will tour the peninsula with an eye on a concert where it all began, in the city of Alicante.

With this bombshell, the Alicante chamber orchestra has presented its fourth concert season, which comes loaded with performances and more surprises, such as a record production that will start in mid-next year. Before that, a myriad of performances will tour the Levante to imbue the coast with what they do best: taking music elsewhere.

With a light performance by violinist Christian Casanova and pianist Adis Galán, both members of Virtuós Mediterrani, and a background summary video, their director Gerardo Estrada took the floor to detail each of the meetings planned for the last quarter of 2024. They will start this Saturday with a program dedicated to Baroque music at the Palacio de Congresos del Colegio de Médicos de Alicante.

The fourth season of Virtuós Mediterrani will continue in November with a tribute to composer Gabriel Fauré on the centenary of his death. The concert 'From the pen of the French genius' includes in its repertoire 'La Pavane,' 'The Elegy,' and 'Requiem Op.48,' performed by the chamber orchestra alongside the Patnia Choir from San Javier and Romani Cana as soloist on cello. The event will take place on November 7 at the Salón Imperio del Real Liceo Casino de Alicante, supported by the French Institute of Valencia.

December will be one of the most special months in this fourth season of Virtuós Mediterrani, with several concerts bringing Christmas and New Year to life in the city of Alicante and other neighboring cities. The seventh concert 'Alicante for Peace' stands out on December 19, an initiative of the Biblioteca de los Libros Felices, at San Antonio de Padua parish (Franciscans).

The cycle will continue, "as is tradition," with a performance during Christmas Mass - on December 25 - alongside the Veus de l'Alba Choir at San Nicolás Co-Cathedral for the fourth consecutive year; in addition to the Christmas gala at Real Liceo Casino de Alicante on December 27, "a highly appreciated and well-attended concert by the city's audience."

Likewise, Virtuós Mediterrani will celebrate 'The First Quarter Century Gala,' its New Year's concert - supporting RedMadre association - commemorating the first 25 years of the new millennium. The event will be held on January 10 at 8 PM at Palacio de Congresos and will feature "an absolutely special and surprising repertoire and guests," some of whom are "big names in music, not exclusively classical." For now, Estrada has revealed the presence of Patnia Choir and performances of works by the Strauss family.

Concert schedule for 2025

The agenda for Virtuós Mediterrani's fourth season will continue on February 13 with 'Romantic without limits' at Real Liceo Casino. The group will feature young pianist Rae Pung as soloist, arriving from Singapore to perform Chopin's 'Piano Concerto No. 2.' A month later, on March 15 at Palacio de Congresos, they will hold 'Dances and Caprices' with Croatian violinist Petromila Jakas performing works by C. Saint-Saens and E. Lalo alongside the Alicante orchestra. This performance will benefit Alicante's cancer fight association.

For Holy Week in April, Virtuós Mediterrani and Patnia Chamber Choir from San Javier will undertake Martín Palmeri's 'Misa a Buenos Aires.' And as a climax to their fourth season, they have revealed that they will close with bagpiper José Ángel Hevia, sharing sounds that fuse Asturian music with world rhythms arranged by Gerardo Estrada.

Likewise, the Alicante chamber orchestra is preparing its summer concert series and is also working with San Javier City Council (Murcia) to bring part of this season's programming to this municipality during Winter Theater. In this regard, they have announced that an ensemble from Virtuós Mediterrani will participate on October 19 in the "masterful" staging of 'Don Juan Tenorio.'
