The Archaeological Museum of Alicante (Marq) launches a new website. The autonomous body of the Provincial Council presented the new version at Fitur, enhancing user experience, accessibility, and language options.

This visual and informational redesign allows "extending the public service the museum offers" in terms of daily inquiries. The website is "a transversal tool for the dissemination" of activities, exhibitions, and research.

The Marq website also complements the Costa Blanca destination offering "from the cultural tourism segment," explained the Deputy of Culture, Juan de Dios Navarro, during the presentation.

This new update of the Marq website -created in 2003- presents a "renewed and modern system," which has been a "great challenge" to maintain the scientific and research content offered by the museum.

With this latest version, the Marq highlights the work of its teams of archaeologists and specialists to bring history and heritage of the province closer to the user through the museum, as well as the sites and monuments it manages.

In short, "what our IT technicians call 'the entire Marq environment' to offer an educational view of archaeology, history, and heritage," the deputy noted.

Navigable Accessibility

The Marq website features a "powerful" tool as a virtual assistant providing technical help to users who need it -voice commands, text size modification, etc.- for accessible navigation.

The focus has been on web usability to simplify navigation and bring the offer and activities closer, with access from any point of navigation, with special attention to responsive adaptation for any device. This new system also facilitates content management.

The strategy of the team of professionals responsible for the new website has focused on preserving the data and content developed over more than twenty years of work, making it possible for various technologies to ensure that the databases and the content they host are secure and accessible.

From the menu and other highlighted spaces, one can navigate to all useful content about an exhibition, the museum, site, or monument, which will be integrated into a single website.

New 'Plan Your Visit' Section

The new 'Plan Your Visit' section allows access to schedules, rates, ticket sales, reservations, etc., contained in the new section, a space where you can find, in addition, all the sheets on exhibitions grouped and classified, with many navigation facilities.

Thus, alongside the "great challenge" posed by the migration and connection between technologies, this section represents the most significant change in functionality justified by the statistics and records of online visit inquiries.
