In a scenario reminiscent of the popular series 'Breaking Bad', a gang was manufacturing drugs in a hidden laboratory within a villa owned by an Irish mobster. It might sound like a script from the series, but it is one of the latest police operations in the province of Alicante.
The National Police have dismantled a synthetic drug manufacturing lab, specifically for pink cocaine or tusi. Nine individuals have been arrested in the operation, including the head of the criminal organization, an Irish citizen involved in the mafia, extending his activities to parts of the Levante, according to police sources.
In fact, the pink cocaine lab was located in a luxury villa in Orihuela Costa, owned by this Irish mobster. Sources close to the investigation indicate that the criminal moved between Alicante and Murcia to make it difficult for authorities to find him.
This Irish mobster was in charge of a criminal group formed by members of a Macedonian family clan, settled in the Murcian district of La Alberca, who allegedly acted under the leader's directives to systematically manufacture and distribute the drug throughout the Murcia region.
Investigations carried out by the National Police, along with the UK's National Crime Agency (NCA), led to the arrest of the organization's top leader. The Irish mobster was found at his home in Orihuela Costa on December 18th. In this villa, he had set up a clandestine lab for the production, manipulation, and adulteration of tusi. Authorities had detected significant consumption of this pink cocaine in leisure areas and other hotspots in Murcia.
Following the arrest and inspection, the National Police continued with two home searches in Murcia, at the residences belonging to the Macedonian clan, where significant quantities of this drug were seized. In the following days, investigators were able to arrest eight more individuals for their involvement in the scheme, although further arrests are not ruled out.
As part of the investigation, 16 kilograms of tusi, two and a half kilos of cocaine, and 540 litres of illegal drug precursors were seized. Additionally, 93.5 kilos of cutting substances for synthetic drug production and a 75-litre drum of methylamine, a key substance for methamphetamine production known for being "highly flammable and toxic," were found.

Additionally, officers have located various instruments and machinery necessary for drug production, as well as a revolver hidden among bricks inside the Orihuela estate and numerous mobile terminals.
Police sources indicate that with all the substances seized in the clandestine lab, the criminal organization could have produced between 300 and 600 kilograms of synthetic drugs.
