The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) had already announced this morning the possibility of light rain during the afternoon, accompanied by striking electrical apparatus and storms. But all Alicante residents have looked to the sky with hopes that the little more than three hours of forecasted rain would respect the procession's departure.

A request more of faith than science since, according to Aemet, the rains will continue until 8 p.m., and for example, the Brotherhood of the Holy Ecce-Homo and the Virgin of Bitterness is scheduled to depart at 6:20 p.m. and will likely have to delay.

They are not the only ones, the Brotherhood of Christ of the Sea and the Virgin of Sorrows also usually depart from the Basilica of Santa Maria at 7:30 p.m. Although the spectacular departure of their float, with the bearers on their knees on the plaza's ground, may be affected by rain and wet ground.

So far, no cancellations have been announced, but among the brotherhoods, they are beginning to assume that the entry into the official route will be delayed due to the rain.
