Five individuals accused of insulting Real Madrid player Vinicius during the match on December 30, 2022, at José Zorrilla have agreed to sentences of one year in prison, four years of disqualification, and fines ranging from 1,080 to 1,620 euros.

An agreement reached between the defence of the Valladolid fans, Adrián P, Mario S, Luis Miguel T, Miguel Ángel T, and David A, the Public Prosecutor's Office, and the player's representative will be made official in the hearing scheduled for May 21 at the Valladolid Court, where the presiding judge will announce the verdict 'in voce'.

The agreement, accessed by Europa Press through legal sources, states that during the 15th round of the First Division match, around the 88th minute, the accused directed insults such as 'son of a bitch, monkey, black, faggot...' when Vinicius was substituted and heading to his bench.

Hate Crimes

The insults constitute hate crimes and discrimination offences as they were intended to humiliate and damage the player's dignity for evident racist reasons, documented by several recordings made by fans from different parts of the stands and published on social media.

"Such expressions had significant public repercussions both nationally and internationally. They have led to the opening of administrative sanction proceedings against the accused, currently suspended by the State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia, and Intolerance in Sport," the document details.

Specifically, of the five fans, four have accepted sentences of one year, special disqualification from the right to passive suffrage during the sentence period, a nine-month fine at a rate of six euros per day with subsidiary personal responsibility of one day for each unpaid instalment or fraction under Article 53 of the Penal Code. Additionally, a special disqualification for educational profession or occupation, in the teaching, sports, and leisure fields, for four years.

Only one of them has a different penalty regarding the fine, being economically sanctioned with nine months at a rate of four euros per day, according to the agreement. There will be no compensation payments as the Real Madrid forward has waived them.

Once the sentence is official, it will be communicated to the State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia, and Intolerance in Sport, concerning the initiated administrative proceedings.
