Residents of the rural areas of Elda have raised the alarm over the increase in burglaries, prompting heightened alert in the Medio Vinalopó municipality. The Town Hall has strengthened surveillance to prevent and deter potential burglaries in homes and rural houses located outside the urban area.
According to Silvia Ibáñez, the Councillor for Citizen Security, "this surveillance campaign is carried out in coordination with the National Police, which holds the responsibility for public safety in the city."
Ibáñez explained that "from the Elda Town Hall, we are in contact with residents who have recently raised concerns about burglaries in some homes, aiming to reinforce surveillance in necessary areas, as we do whenever there is an increase in incidents."

She also reminded that "Elda already has a Local Security Board, which is the competent body to establish collaboration procedures among the members of the Security Forces within its territorial scope, as established by law."
Furthermore, she indicated that "the latest data provided by the Ministry of Interior not only show that crime in our city has not increased, but has even decreased. However, the Local Police remain vigilant to establish, along with the National Police, specific controls and surveillance in areas where there might be temporary increases in burglaries or situations that could concern the public."
Finally, the Councillor for Citizen Security noted that "in the coming weeks, officers will be equipped with new PDA devices to enhance efficiency in citizen service, providing a quicker response as the location of alerts will be managed through mobile phone applications and the 112 CV service, eliminating the need for GPS location."
