The University of Alicante will officially inaugurate the academic year at noon this Thursday. This time, the solemn event will be marked by the judicial situation surrounding the institution's Medicine degree. The three parties involved in the conflict will be present at the Auditorium.
On one side, as host, the defendant represented by Rector Amparo Navarro, on another, the plaintiff through the Vice-Rector for Planning and Social Responsibility of UMH, Domingo Orozco; and in between, the regional minister of Education, Culture, Universities, and Employment, José Antonio Rovira.
A quarter of a century later, the scene bears similarities but also significant differences among its actors and objections. This time, coexistence is sought - as two public universities in the province currently offer a Medicine degree - though understood from two perspectives that maintain their discrepancies.
