The municipal corporation is celebrating once again. In just over a year and a half since the new councillors took office, there have been several instances of maternity and paternity leaves. This January, the spokesperson for Esquerra Unida - Podem, Manolo Copé, announced that he will take six weeks of paternity leave to expand his family by fostering a child in need.
"My family and I are very happy to be able to support and foster a child. It is a well-considered decision, but one we did not hesitate to make when we learned about the need for foster families and the opportunity to help children by providing them with a safe family environment," Copé highlighted.
The Esquerra Unida Podem Municipal Group and the political formations that comprise it have expressed their support for Copé's decision, emphasizing the importance of promoting values such as solidarity and social commitment to children who need this type of support. They have also called for families who have the means to consider becoming foster families.

This is the fourth councillor to expand their family during this term. The previous one was Vox councillor Mario Ortolá, who became a father at the end of October. The next will be the Culture Councillor, Nayma Beldjilali, who is pregnant.
During the six weeks of leave, the party will be without representation in the Alicante City Council, and the PP will only need the mayor's casting vote to pass their initiatives.
