Eurovision has confirmed itself as the most-watched non-sporting event of the year. La 1 achieved an impressive audience result, demonstrating the country's interest in Melody's candidacy. More than 5.8 million viewers and a 50.1% audience share tuned in to a gala that began at 9:00 PM and lasted nearly four hours. During the voting, the figures soared even higher: 6,315,000 viewers and a 59.7% share stayed glued to their screens, eagerly awaiting whether Austria or Israel would take home the crystal microphone.
Overall, the main public channel closed Saturday with a 25.9% share, outpacing Antena 3 (8.7%) and Telecinco (6.1%). The post-gala program, 'La noche de Melody', also recorded significant numbers (36.6%) with its special from Dos Hermanas. According to the consultancy Dos30', the Community of Madrid was the region where Eurovision was most followed with a 55% share, while in Galicia, the percentage dropped to 43.1%, making it the least Eurovision-enthusiastic community. Additionally, Melody's final was the most-watched in RTVE Play's history with 839,544 unique visitors, doubling the 2024 figure (+103%) and breaking the 2022 record with Chanel by adding 46.6% more.
The best result since Chanel's edition
Specifically, the Sevillian artist improved Eurovision's 2024 audience by nearly ten points, with Nebulossa and her controversial 'Zorra' achieving a 41.8% share and 4,886,000 viewers. This is the best result since the edition where Chanel restored optimism for the Spanish delegation with a third-place finish that felt like a victory. On that occasion, in 2022, the Eurovision gala marked a 50.8% share and 6,835,000 viewers. However, Rosa López's performance in 2002, with her song 'Europe's living a celebration', remains the most-watched of the century with an impressive 80.4% and 12,755,000 followers.
