Melody made a grand entrance on 'El Hormiguero' with a red carpet and a mix of 'Esa diva' and 'El apagón' – her new work. The programme criticised RTVE's blockade that prevented the artist from attending an interview with Pablo Motos. "RTVE blocked our interview with Melody, and we had to wait until the contract ended," Motos criticised, explaining that all Spanish representatives have appeared on the show in previous editions, often at RTVE's request. Just this Wednesday, it was revealed that RTVE has prohibited the Spanish representative at the Benidorm Fest 2026 from appearing on other channels' programmes until two months after the competition ends.

After denying that Melody was paid to appear on the show, the artist admitted there were moments when she considered giving up. She acknowledged how tough the past weeks have been, having to hear things "that aren't true" with the sole aim, according to her, of "damaging me so people don't believe what I say." "They tried to harm me, and I am what you see," the Sevillian concluded in an interview where she asked not to create headlines to attract attention with something "that is false." Melody described herself during the interview as someone who "has always been truthful." She even revealed that she never saw herself as a winner at Eurovision. "I've always kept my feet on the ground," Melody stated to refute those who labelled her as "arrogant."

Regardless, the criticisms of RTVE's Eurovision proposal were a constant theme throughout the interview, which began with a simulated performance of what she would have liked to do at Eurovision, with the dancers she participated with at the Benidorm Fest but couldn't due to RTVE's restrictions. "This is somewhat like the entrance you wanted," Motos began, referring to the artist's differences with RTVE's Eurovision proposal. "I was very excited to enter from above, but other proposals were made. However, being on this show and making that entrance filled my heart with pride," she replied, refusing to discuss the life and experience of the European festival. "When you want to know something about Eurovision, ask me behind the cameras," she said.

Rejection of War

What Melody rejected during the interview, where she even laughed at her position - "we came third from the bottom," she joked - was the war in Gaza. "I am totally against war, I find it terrible what's happening, and I believe the world shouldn't allow these things, including that there are people today who don't have a plate of food," the artist denounced. She lamented being criticised for not speaking out earlier on this issue directly. "I am someone who has always been willing to help since I was young, but there are things beyond my control because I am an artist, not a politician," she defended herself against those who criticised her for not taking a political stance. She concluded: "I am against genocide."

But despite all the questions and criticisms of recent weeks, Melody assured that she remains grateful for the warmth she has received from the public because, as she stated, "an artist without the public is nothing and nobody."
