The Investigating Court number 6 of Madrid, acting as the duty court for detainees, has ordered the provisional release of the man detained for fatally attacking a man from Vigo near the Santiago Bernabéu stadium at the end of a Karol G concert, according to judicial sources.
The detainee, who has been subjected to precautionary measures including a prohibition on leaving the national territory and the obligation to appear in court every fifteen days until the case is concluded, is being investigated for the commission of a reckless homicide. The procedure is being handled by Investigating Court number 54, which was also responsible for lifting the body.
The 42-year-old man died last Wednesday after hitting his head on the ground following an assault by another man due to a misunderstanding that occurred after the Karol G concert near the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
The events took place minutes before 1 a.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Padre Damián and Alberto Alcocer streets. After the Colombian artist's concert, a man was making a video call with his girlfriend when four girls behind him began to berate him because they thought he was recording them without their consent.
In response to the altercation, a 33-year-old man with a large tattoo on his arm approached to support the young women and, without saying a word, punched the man recording with his mobile phone from behind. The victim fell to the ground and hit his head hard against the cement.
Following the incident, paramedics from Samur-Civil Protection arrived at the scene and found that the victim had suffered severe cranioencephalic trauma with left otorrhagia. He was intubated and transported hemodynamically stable with prior notice to La Paz hospital, where he was admitted in very serious condition. He died in the Intensive Care Unit around 3:30 p.m.
Agents from the Madrid Municipal Police, who were regulating traffic a few meters from where the incident occurred after the concert held at the Bernabéu, provided initial assistance and arrested the assailant, who now faces charges of reckless homicide.
