The singer Karol G (Medellín, 33 years old) conquered the Santiago Bernabéu stadium this Saturday with her 'Mañana será bonito' tour in the first of her four sold-out shows in Madrid. Known as one of the pioneers of reggaeton with lyrics that empower women and avoid sexist terms, she has achieved what no one else has so far: filling four consecutive dates at the Madrid stadium with 240,000 tickets sold.

With a repertoire consisting of more than thirty songs, divided into three sets, Karol G kicked off the concert just after 9:00 PM with 'TQG', in collaboration with Shakira, marked by animations of "Carolina", accompanied by sirens and inflatable animals on stage, as well as fire and energetic dances.

'Besties', 'Mi cama', and 'El barco' followed in quick succession at the stadium, the latter being one of Karol G's favorite pieces, as she highlighted to her fans. 'X si volvemos', a huge hit sung with Romeo Santos, concluded with "tonight is a night of sex and I'm going to fulfill your fantasy," reports Europa Press.

"It was you who made the next song number one," announced Karol G before performing her next hit, none other than 'Tusa', the viral sensation during the pandemic made in collaboration with Nicki Minaj; a song that marked one of the first special moments of the night.

"For all the queen mamasotas"

'BichotaG' also got the crowd on their feet, one of her most famous and recent songs, symbolizing the mass phenomenon she has become worldwide. Being "a bichota" now has its own meaning. "I dedicate it to all the queen mamasotas," announced Karol G before performing it.

With her "salgo acicala' de pie' a tope" resonating through the Bernabéu, she moved on to 'El Makinon', another fan favorite, with attendees dressed in pink outfits, glitter, and cowboy hats, also pink and glittery.

With the song 'Carolina', her favorite, the artist revealed her name to her audience: "Nice to meet you, my name is Carolina," she said ironically.

"I know you love perreo in Spain; let's pretend we're in a nightclub," assured the artist before singing 'Gatúbela', originally performed with Edwin Vázquez Vega, a hit that broke from the concert's previous aesthetic. Thus, the pastel colors that dominate her album (Mañana será bonito, 2023) and marked the beginning of the concert gave way to a passionate red that lit up the stage.

At that moment, she performed one of her older songs, 'A ella' from 2017, followed by 'TA OK', 'OCEAN', 'Pero tú', and 'Mercurio'.

"There is a bichota in each one"

The third set opened with another animated video featuring Carolina encouraging women to empower themselves: "There is a bichota in each one of you; you have to find her like Carolina did."

Her new single 'Si antes te hubiera conocido' was also featured, a song not initially on the setlist but gifted to the 65,000 attendees this Saturday: "I've never sung it in Spain."

'Mi ex tenía razón' was another song that resonated deeply with the audience, who sang along in unison with the artist as she posed solo at the end of a flower-shaped catwalk wearing one of the concert's standout outfits—a cowboy hat. At that moment, Karol G blended seamlessly with her fans, most of whom wore the famous cowboy hat featured in this song's music video.

Karol G—who has three albums (Unstoppable, 2017), (Ocean, 2019), (KG0516, 2021), and (Mañana será bonito, 2023)—closed this first day of concerts in Madrid with 'Mamiii' and 'Provenza' or 'S91'.

The latter includes "they want to be like me; I saw them but flow is not for sale," added to the setlist specifically for being "Spain." "I saved it for here," added the artist before singing it. She also surprised the audience by pulling out a Spanish flag and draping it over her shoulders before greeting her many compatriots present at the concert.

This first show in Madrid attracted a diverse audience: young people and families. Men had their faces decorated with glitter just like many of the attending women. "We are wearing hats styled after 'Pasión de Gavilanes' because of the song 'Mi ex tenía razón,' where Karol G wears a transparent hat. We have high expectations; she is wonderful and sings very well. We came as a family including my father. He will sing and dance too," said Marta, one of her fans before the concert.

"We are from Medellín; there was a big boom in Medellín with Karol G and today is July 20th when we also celebrate Colombia's independence," said Catalina and Manuela at the venue's entrance according to Europa Press.

Ana, a young woman not dressed in pink nor wearing glitter but sporting large hoop earrings each inscribed with a word: 'Bichota'. "They were given to me as a birthday gift a couple of years ago; I've worn them several times but it's been a while since I last wore them," she explained.
