Omelettes, salted fish, rice, artichokes, dates, monas, and toñas… Alicante Gastronómica offers an opportunity for both culinary enthusiasts and professionals to showcase their skills. Participants will test their knowledge and abilities in the 16 competitions that will be held from September 27 to 30. Once again, these gastronomic contests will become a key element of the culinary experience and will even feature Michelin-starred judges, according to the organizers.
Through high-quality Alicante dishes, the event aims to enhance the rich and diverse Mediterranean cuisine by highlighting local products. Additionally, these culinary duels seek to promote the use of local products to advance quality and sustainability within the sector.
The sweet treats will also be present at Alicante Gastronómica with the International Paco Torreblanca High Pastry Award for the best chocolate cake in the world. This recognition aims to spotlight the work of pastry chefs and will feature renowned international jurors such as Italian Iginio Massari, French Frederic Bau, and Spaniards Jordi Roca, Oriol Balaguer, Jacob Torreblanca, and Carlos Mampel. The organization of this contest will collaborate with the International School of Pastry Arts, Torreblanca’s professional high pastry school.
Another novelty is the First Mediterranean Bread Competition, providing a platform for artisanal bakers to demonstrate their technique and mastery in making this staple of the Mediterranean diet. The competition will collaborate with Harinas La Encarnación-Entrepiedras and Bongard. Additionally, the Second Monas and Toñas Competition is scheduled.
In the designed program will hold a very special place for the 17th Spanish Omelette Championship - Tescoma Trophy and the Second International Omelette Championship as part of the Third Spanish Omelette Congress organized by gastronomic critic Rafael García Santos within Alicante Gastronómica.
The tribute to this iconic Spanish dish continues with the Second Omelette with... Championship, which will encourage culinary creativity and bring new flavors to this popular and characteristic dish that is a staple in bars and restaurants.
The typical products of Alicante will be present in these culinary showdowns. Various competitions focused on important provincial foods will be held, including wine as an essential beverage in all local households.
The event promotes training for hospitality professionals. Thus, they are organizing the Fourth Cooking Hospitality Schools Competition and the Second Dining Hospitality Schools Competition, where schools will compete in teams.
