All About the Alicante Film Festival 2025: Programme and Tickets

Alicante is gearing up to celebrate another year of the Alicante Film Festival. This Saturday, 17th May, marks the start of the 22nd edition of the festival with its opening gala, which will include tributes to figures from the film industry.

Throughout the week, the Alicante Film Festival will screen its six competing films, as well as shorts in various sections: national, international, documentaries, animation, LGTBI, or new talents, among others.

Additionally, the programme of the Alicante Film Festival includes parallel activities such as concerts, guest films, talks, round tables, documentary screenings, and more.

Among the highlights is the screening of the film '8' by Julio Medem this Friday, 16th May. The filmmaker will be present at the session, which will be held at the Ciudad de la Luz studios in Alicante, and will offer a colloquium.

The Principal Theatre of Alicante will roll out the red carpet this Saturday, 17th May, to host the opening gala of the 22nd Film Festival. A photocall will be set up at the entrance where several celebrities will attend to present their projects.

Furthermore, the stage of the Principal Theatre will serve to present the different sections of the festival and also to award the recognitions of this edition to actresses Ana Fernández and Adriana Ugarte, and director Julio Medem.

The Alicante Film Festival has enabled ticket sales for its opening gala at 13 euros.

During the week of the Alicante Film Festival, the festival will screen the six films in competition in its official section, which will compete for the Golden Tessera and other awards.

The sessions will be held at the Kinépolis cinemas in the Plaza Mar 2 shopping centre.

Throughout the week of the Alicante Film Festival, various short films will be screened in several of its sections. All of them will compete: Spanish, international, animation, documentaries, LGTBI, and Alicante Cinema.

The festival venues where screenings will take place are: Casa Mediterráneo, Teatre Arniches, and Kinépolis cinemas.

The closing gala of the Alicante Film Festival will be held on 24th May at 8 PM at the Principal Theatre of Alicante. There, the various awards will be presented to the winning films and shorts, as well as a tribute to Luis Ivars with the Music for the Image award and Paco Delgado with the Fashion Cinema award.
