The Ombudsman has initiated an ex officio action this Tuesday before the State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia, and Intolerance in Sport, requesting information on the actions initiated after the racist insults directed at Lamine Yamal, Ansu Fati, and Raphinha during the recent classic.
According to a press release, the institution led by Ángel Gabilondo advocated for "knowing the assessment of that Commission regarding compliance and possible adoption of additional measures to those provided in Law 19/2007, of July 11, against violence, racism, xenophobia, and intolerance in sport, including possible proposals for the initiation of disciplinary proceedings."
Lamine Yamal, Ansu Fati, and Raphinha, all three from Barcelona, were subjected to these insults during the match they played last Saturday against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu, corresponding to the eleventh round of the League, which ended with a 0-4 victory for Barcelona.

This investigation joins another action opened by the Ombudsman, who, in May 2023 and after receiving several complaints, initiated actions before the Higher Sports Council (CSD) for the racist insults directed at Vinicius, Real Madrid's forward, in Mestalla during another league match between his team and Valencia.
