Amparo Navarro faced an attack just before taking her oath, with the Spanish Constitution and the Statute of the University of Alicante, as she stepped up to the promise table.
A young woman rose from the audience to criticise, amidst insults, the presence of President Carlos Mazón at the inauguration and investiture of Navarro as the rector of the UA.
Amidst shouts and insults, the activist, along with other left-wing militants, hurled insults at the head of the Consell - including "bloody murderer" - and criticised the management during the storm, as well as verbal attacks against the professor for "allowing" him to preside over the event.
Despite this attempt to disrupt, Navarro remained calm while the audience demanded the attackers leave the auditorium. The rector took her oath amidst an emotional round of applause.
