On Thursday, the Alicante campus of the European University hosted the official launch of the VEnCE Programme (Live, Train, Cancer, Face). This initiative by the European University Foundation, in collaboration with the Arena Sports Club, aims to enhance the quality of life for cancer patients at any stage of their illness through physical exercise.

The event was graced by the presence of the Rector of the European University of Valencia, Rosa Sanchidrián; the director of the VEnCE programme, Itziar Pagola; the president of the Arena Sports Club Alicante, Alexey Krupnov, as well as representatives from the city council and other institutions. However, the mayor, Luis Barcala, had to cancel his attendance due to a serious accident at the Hermanos Sirvent pyrotechnics in Fontcalent.

For the Rector of the European University of Valencia, Rosa Sanchidrián, "the VEnCE programme we are presenting embodies the essence of who we are and what we aim to bring to Alicante. We want to promote initiatives that, based on research, help improve people's lives."

"Cancer changes your life, it changes the life of the person suffering from it, and it changes the lives of those around them. This is where physical exercise can play a reliable, safe, and proven role in improving the quality of life for these individuals. The purpose of VEnCE is to provide scientific evidence of these benefits," explained Itziar Pagola, Vice Dean at the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Sport at the European University of Madrid and director of the VEnCE Programme.

Teresa Román, Managing Director of the European University Foundation, pointed out, "Our Foundation was born with the spirit of impacting as many people as possible with social initiatives that have a visible result on the ground. VEnCE is a clear example of this."

The event also featured participation from patients involved in the programme, who expressed feeling "very fortunate to be part of this group, we have become a family."

Meanwhile, the president of the Arena Sports Club Alicante, Alexey Krupnov, a collaborating entity in the social project, expressed gratitude for "the opportunity to be part of the European Foundation's programme" and called for the collaboration of all institutions in such important programmes for society.

Since January 20th, the Arena Sports Club in Alicante, in collaboration with the European University Foundation, has been hosting the VEnCE Programme, where cancer patients at various stages of the process treat their illness through physical exercise. The programme, which is completely free, helps patients find a new way to rebuild their vitality.

The VEnCE programme, which has been present for nearly seven years in cities like Madrid, Valencia, and Barcelona, offers an opportunity to show cancer patients the benefits of physical exercise, as it not only improves short, medium, and long-term side effects but has also been proven to reduce relapses and increase survival rates.
