The City Council of Elda will freeze all municipal taxes and fees for the next fiscal year, including the waste collection fee. This was announced on Tuesday by the Finance Councilor, Fernando Gómez, who emphasized that "not even the CPI increase, which is around 2%, will be applied, so the City Council of Elda will stop collecting about 500,000 euros, money that will remain in the pockets of Elda households."
In this way, the Property Tax (IBI), the Capital Gains Tax, the Tax on Constructions, Installations and Works (ICIO), the Economic Activities Tax (IAE), and the Vehicle Tax (IVTM) will remain frozen in 2025. Also frozen are the fees and public prices, such as the fees for Municipal Schools, Markets, Municipal Pools, and the Waste Collection Fee.
Fernando Gómez highlighted that, "for an Elda family, the cost of waste collection, transport, and treatment will be one of the lowest in the province: 1.88 euros per week." Additionally, in the next fiscal year, reductions in the fee for socio-economic reasons will be maintained to help families with fewer economic resources or at risk of exclusion, and payment will continue to be split into two installments to provide more convenience to taxpayers.
In this regard, Fernando Gómez communicated that "in the Municipal Plenary that has just been held, we have approved a fiscal modification of the waste collection fee so that those over 60 years old who have a bonus do not have to renew it annually as before, unless their circumstances change. Therefore, those who have been granted or will be granted will have automatic renewal, currently affecting about 800 citizens."
The fiscal ordinance contemplates reductions in the fee of 40% for single-person households where the gross annual income is equal to or less than 15,120 euros or in households with two or more members whose gross annual income is equal to or less than 21,840 euros.
Similarly, the reduction will be 60% in exceptional cases or situations, such as people over 60 years old, large families, single-parent families with at least one dependent child, beneficiaries of social benefits, family units where one of the members has a disability equal to or greater than 33% and cannot engage in professional activity, households where the head of the family is a long-term unemployed (six months or more uninterrupted), family unit victims of gender violence, and people involved in an eviction process.
These socio-economic reductions can be accessed by about 2,000 households, aiming to help families with fewer economic resources or at risk of exclusion.
The Finance Councilor reminded that "those interested in applying for the bonus must submit a series of documents at the Suma Tax Management offices, or through the electronic headquarters (www.suma.es). Citizens can also make any inquiries about the application process through the Citizen Service phone (965 292 000) or at the Suma offices."
