Teaching extends beyond the classrooms of the University of Alicante, reaching every corner of the globe. Following a podcast created by students of Nutrition and Dietetics, the institution now boasts a new programme devised by students from the Advertising and Public Relations degree.
This initiative, named 'Ideárium UA', brings together students from three different courses - second, third, and fourth year - under the coordination of Professor Araceli Castelló, with subjects related to and framed within the itinerary of advertising creativity.
The episodes of this new podcast from the University of Alicante address 'topics related to the subjects' of the ICE Ideárium network. It is a 'transversal' initiative, Castelló points out, allowing the analysis of current significant campaigns from the perspective of marketing and advertising strategy.
The team, consisting of Lydia Sarrión Piñeiro, Emma Codeso Bonet, Emilio Fuentes Miralles, and David Castillo Orts, analyses 'impactful and controversial advertising campaigns, such as those by KFC, Balenciaga, or Estrella Galicia, exploring their creativity, strategies, and the lessons they teach us about how brands manage to stand out and connect with the public.'
Weekly, additional episodes will be produced by students from the degree, dedicated to analysing advertising campaigns, reflecting on the importance of creative strategy, reviewing the presence of current trends in advertising, or evaluating sexism in advertisements, among other issues.
Araceli Castelló-Martínez notes that the idea to launch this initiative was born as a 'proposal of good teaching practices' from the Institute of Education Sciences at UA, which has had the active collaboration and technical support of the Media Library of the University of Alicante Library.
