The City Council of Cornellà (Barcelona) addressed the criticisms made by singer Lola Índigo on Monday. The MTV Europe award winner stated on El Hormiguero, on Antena 3, that after selling 20,000 tickets for a concert at the RCD Espanyol stadium, the City Council of Cornellà, where the stadium is located, "has closed the door" on her. "They don't want to let us hold the concert in Cornellà. They say there can't be more than one musical event per month, and that month Robbie Williams is already scheduled. But we have 20,000 tickets sold. This isn't just about me: it's about 20,000 people who chose to be there," she asserted on the show hosted by Pablo Motos.
The Cornellà de Llobregat council, near Barcelona, did not hold back. The Barcelona city council stated that at no point did it grant authorization to the promoting company for Índigo's concert on July 12. According to municipal sources, the singer from Granada continued selling tickets despite not having the necessary permit for the concert at the RCD Stadium. The council points out that it has an agreement with RCD Espanyol, the stadium's owner, and the local residents to hold only one concert per month. July was already reserved for Robbie Williams, and they offered Índigo's promoter to move the concert forward, but it was declined. Back in December, when the concert was announced, the city council warned that the license had not been granted. This situation is similar to what Aitana experienced in Madrid, after Real Madrid cancelled her two concerts at Santiago Bernabéu for June this year.
Lola admitted that the mayor suggested changing the date, which was dismissed due to production issues. "We can't make it. It's not a matter of whim; the show can't be set up earlier," she said on the Antena 3 program. "All this happens because they don't want noise twice," she noted, referring to the agreement between the football club and the residents. In any case, she urged the council to find a solution that could resolve the situation, allowing fans who purchased tickets to attend the stadium. "It would be good if they reconsidered," she concluded.
