Arrest of a 'Snatcher' and Accomplice for Robbing an 84-Year-Old Woman in Rafal

The Civil Guard of Alicante, with the support of the Local Police of Rafal, has arrested a couple as the alleged perpetrators of a violent robbery against an 84-year-old woman that occurred in early September on a street in the Vega Baja municipality. The suspect approached the victim under the pretext of asking about a person and, by snatching, took a gold necklace, fleeing quickly. The woman suffered injuries that required medical attention.

After the social alarm generated among the residents, the Investigation Area of the Civil Guard of Callosa de Segura took over the actions with the aim of locating and arresting the responsible party.

In an initial phase, the investigators thoroughly analyzed the 'modus operandi'. The collaboration of the Local Police of Rafal was key to the progress in the investigation.

Additionally, it was confirmed that the perpetrator of the robbery had the help of an accomplice, who waited in a vehicle on a nearby street to facilitate his escape.

On October 18, after a series of investigations and the obtaining of conclusive evidence, both suspects, a man and a woman aged 39 and 40, with records of similar acts, were arrested.

Both detainees, accused of a violent robbery crime, have been transferred to judicial facilities. The Court of Instruction No. 2 of Orihuela has ordered their release with precautionary measures.
