National Police have arrested a man in Mislata who allegedly set fire to five bins in Alicante. The rubbish bins were located in close proximity to each other, and the flames spread to parked vehicles and building facades, causing material damage.

According to the security forces, the incidents occurred at midnight on March 25th, when officers were alerted to a series of fires that broke out simultaneously in the La Florida area. Units from the Provincial Security Brigade and the Alicante Fire Department were dispatched to various locations.

Due to the ferocity of the flames, which always started in rubbish bins, several vehicles were affected by the fire, with one being completely burned. In fact, the flames spread to building facades, endangering residents and necessitating the evacuation of several areas. Additionally, individuals in a gaming hall had to be evacuated, and firefighters rescued a blind woman who was unable to leave her home unaided.

Medical services attended to several evacuees for smoke inhalation and anxiety attacks due to "the spectacular nature of the flames, the large amount of smoke, and the dangerous situation." Both facades and shop signs in the area suffered damage.

It was the Judicial Police officers from the Alicante Central District Station who took charge of the investigation, conducting various inquiries that confirmed the sequence of events, leading to the identification of the suspected arsonist.

Following the necessary investigations, officers located the suspected arsonist in Mislata, where he was arrested for the alleged crimes of arson and damage. It is estimated that the flames affected a total of 11 bins valued at 17,500 euros and seven vehicles.

The detainee, a 42-year-old man, was brought before the Mislata Magistrate's Court on duty after the completion of police procedures, and his imprisonment was ordered.
