The Official Medical Association of Alicante (COMA) and the Alicante Diabetics Union (UDA) have signed their first collaboration agreement aimed at promoting prevention, information, and raising awareness about this disease. The agreement also seeks to strengthen support for defending the interests of affected individuals and their families in the province.

The agreement was signed by COMA President Dr. Hermann Schwarz and UDA President José Manuel Miralles, in the presence of UDA Secretary Alfredo Sánchez, COMA's Tutors and Teachers Representative Dr. Natalia Acín, and COMA's Secretary General Dr. José Manuel Peris. This agreement establishes a framework for joint work in developing solidarity actions and awareness campaigns.

Among the commitments made, the UDA will provide updates on diabetes-related developments managed by the Association and the activities it undertakes, while COMA will offer institutional support, backing topics related to UDA's projects and activities after evaluation and approval by the Board of Directors.

“This agreement reinforces the commitment of the Alicante Medical Association to public health and the continuous education of doctors, contributing to improving the quality of life for diabetes patients.”

Additionally, both entities will create a Monitoring Committee to ensure compliance with the agreement and evaluate new collaboration opportunities. “This agreement reinforces the commitment of the Alicante Medical Association to public health and the continuous education of doctors, contributing to improving the quality of life for diabetes patients,” highlighted Dr. Schwarz.

Meanwhile, Miralles Sarrión emphasized the importance of the union between both entities. “For the UDA, this agreement is very important because diabetes is a disease that involves several medical specialties,” emphasized Miralles Sarrión.

The agreement will initially be valid for one year and includes the organization of joint activities, informative campaigns, and the promotion of scientific knowledge about diabetes.
