The untimely death of María Jesús Rodríguez, known as Michu, former partner of José Fernando and mother of his only daughter, Rocío, at the age of 33, has left her family and the family of Rocío Jurado's son devastated. For years, the relationship between the woman from Cádiz and her in-laws was tense, but it had softened in recent times. So much so that last weekend she had shared a plan with her ex-sister-in-law, Gloria Camila. They attended the concert of José Ortega Cano's daughter's boyfriend, Álvaro García, together with little Rocío, who is eight years old. The future of the girl is now everyone's main concern.
Michu suffered from a severe coronary disease for which she had surgery in 2018. "A patch," she called it, to try to delay an inevitable heart transplant. According to her mother, Inmaculada, this was precisely the cause of death. "There were several heart attacks. She was showering, she was happy. She was going out and suddenly she felt ill and that was it," she recounted, still shocked by the loss.
Aware of her delicate situation, it seems Michu wanted to leave her last wishes in writing to ensure her daughter's well-being. "She was very worried about the problems she was facing and didn't want to leave her daughter Rocío alone. Her family tells me she had everything arranged and her wish was for José Ortega Cano to take care of the girl," journalist Leticia Requejo explained on 'TardeAR'. For his part, Ortega Cano told ¡Hola! magazine that "we will try to do the best for the little one, to ensure she is well."
With José Fernando, the child's father, incapacitated by court decision due to a personality disorder, and Michu deceased, Rocío's future is the main concern for her relatives. The bullfighter has moved to Cádiz to bid farewell to his granddaughter's mother. In the Andalusian city, where he was picked up by his sister Mari Carmen and brother-in-law Aniceto, the matador expressed how "complicated" the situation is. "These are very difficult times," he said, while acknowledging that he still doesn't know what will happen with his granddaughter: "I don't know, I can't say right now." Despite everything, he reaffirmed his intention to "do things as best as possible."
Overwhelmed by the shock, José Fernando and Gloria Camila have also travelled to bid their last farewell to Michu in Arcos de la Frontera.
