Meeting of Mayors in New York
Toni Pérez travels to meet his counterpart in the Big Apple, Eric Adams
Traveling is always a pleasure, even if it has to be done for work or institutional reasons. This was the case for the recent visit by the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez to New York, where he met his counterpart, Eric Adams, who personally welcomed him in the Big Apple.

The meeting was highlighted on Adams' social media with a message acknowledging that "it is always a pleasure to meet with a professional counterpart." The tweet was published in both Spanish and English.
Pérez was in New York to give a lecture at the UN on the 2030 Agenda, which provided the perfect opportunity for the meeting between the mayors of these two skyscraper cities. Both posed happily, and the New York mayor also valued the possibility of "learning from the work being done on the other side of the Atlantic."
The response on Twitter was swift, with Benidorm Tourism's official account replying in English, thanking for the "warm welcome" and "hospitality." They also appreciated "the exchange of ideas and learning from each other." A collaboration that Alicante residents hope can continue.
Some social media users were quick to respond to the messages with expressions like "Beniyork" or by comparing both cities. There were also many references to the innovative system implemented in the American city for waste collection, known here as containers.
