Construction works at Alicante's Tram Central Station, managed by the Generalitat, will lead to changes in access to the parking areas of the Adif terminal in Alicante starting next Tuesday, January 7.

The planned works necessitate the closure of the access to the parking from Salamanca Avenue. As a result, entry and exit for vehicles will be arranged from Aguilera Avenue via Alcalde Rafael Millá Santos Street, as stated by the Generalitat in a press release.

There will be two new express stop zones for the arrival and departure of passengers: one located on Bono Guarner Street, accessible from Salamanca Avenue and Serrano-Catedrático Senant Llaudes Street; the other on Alcalde Rafael Millá Santos Street, from Aguilera Avenue, opposite the station's parking access.

The current express stop on the side of the railway terminal will cease operations. For travellers with reduced mobility, an exclusive express stop zone has been designated in the taxi area within the station premises, accessible from Salamanca Avenue.

Regarding pedestrian access to the station building, all existing accesses, including the southern one for persons with reduced mobility, will remain open for now.

The Central Station works began last November with preliminary land inspection, identification, and replacement of services and station facilities. Currently, the construction of the new alternative parking on Adif land is underway.

The contract award budget for construction and project management amounts to 102 million euros, including VAT, with a completion period of 52 months.

The project includes the construction of a 72-metre-long tunnel section, connecting with the infrastructure already built under Estación Avenue, and the new underground Central Station, which will feature the necessary access points, lobbies, and a platform area accommodating four tracks with their respective infrastructures and facilities.

According to the Consell, the Central Station will "create a major intermodal hub where long-distance flows, the tram system, and urban, metropolitan, and interurban bus services converge."
