The National Police are investigating a drug-related retaliation as the possible motive behind the murder of a man on Tuesday afternoon in Dénia. This is the main hypothesis being considered, although other motives have not been ruled out, according to sources from the investigation on Wednesday. The case remains open, and all leads are being examined.

This incident shocked the community last night when news broke about what had happened in a garage on the central Patricio Ferrándiz street. Gradually, more details are emerging about the event. The victim was 53 years old, Spanish but not a resident of the capital of Marina Alta. Additionally, the National Police have no record of any criminal background for him.

Last night was intense. Forensic officers were inspecting the crime scene, a garage located at number 64 B of a building with three additional floors. The police also spoke with witnesses and with residents of the Diana street building where the two suspects being sought might have hidden.

In the early hours, before removing the cordon that sealed off the area, a tow truck removed the motorcycle that the alleged perpetrators had arrived on and left on Diana street along with the car inside the garage. The latter was taken to police facilities where it has been thoroughly examined.

Next to the front headlight on the driver's side, traces of dried blood reveal that the vehicle was a silent witness to everything that transpired. The hood in that area is also splattered with drops that burst out after the victim was hit by a fatal bullet. Black powder residues surround the car, and small stickers mark points where fingerprints were taken.

A neighbor explains that around half-past seven in the evening, he saw two men wearing black trousers and white polo shirts, both donning black motorcycle helmets that concealed their faces. They were walking a few meters apart from each other. Five minutes later, he saw them running away and turning towards Diana street, heading towards Paseo del Saladar. “I saw two guys running like madmen with their helmets on and thought it was very strange,” he recounts. At that moment, he was unaware of what had occurred in a nearby garage.
