The spokesperson for Infrastructure of the 'popular' group in Les Corts, Joserra González de Zárate, has demanded that the Government of Spain expand the airports of Alicante and Valencia after these infrastructures led the annual growth in international passengers.
González de Zárate stated in a communiqué that this request has not only been made by the Generalitat presided over by Carlos Mazón but also "by the unanimous support of the Valencian tourism sector." Additionally, he indicated that "this is an urgent measure we need, and its execution should be swift by the Ministry."
Furthermore, the Popular Party deputy in Les Corts highlighted that the terminals in Valencia and Alicante received 6.7 million international travelers in July, a 16% increase compared to the same period last year.
He also added that, according to figures published by Turespaña, an organization dependent on the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, "the Community is leading in growth among autonomous communities, with an annual cumulative increase of almost 16% and a growth in July exceeding 13%."
Joserra González de Zárate emphasized that "month after month, it is confirmed that the Valencian Community is experiencing a good moment." In this regard, he insisted that "these figures support the demand for the expansion of both infrastructures."
"It is true that the Ministry has said it will activate it, but it is equally true that Sánchez's Government is already late and inefficient. Therefore, from the PPCV we demand that the Government prioritize these infrastructures both economically and in execution," he criticized.
The 'popular' deputy stressed that "the Valencian Community is proving that, even with the obstacles put in our way by PSOE, with evidence showing that Pedro Sánchez does not consider us a priority, with delays and lack of investment, we are an attractive and competitive autonomy for foreign investment and tourism."
Adding to this request from the Popular Group deputy are record figures from Alicante-Elche airport, where with nearly 2 million passengers in July, El Altet airport recorded its best month ever and the highest number of travelers in any month, surpassing June which previously held this record.
