Thursday afternoon could have ended in tragedy in Crevillente. It was around 3:40 PM, according to security forces, when residents alerted that a man was firing shots on a street in the municipality.
Apparently, the man had approached his ex-in-laws' house to see his children. He has a restraining order against him concerning his ex-wife due to domestic violence. However, there are no special protective measures regarding the children, who are under their mother's care. The woman was not at her parents' home at the time and does not usually reside there.
The children's grandparents tried to prevent him from seeing the children, which enraged the man, leading him to fire a pistol he was carrying. A bullet struck another occupant of the house at that moment. The ex-brother-in-law was shot in the leg, near the knee, necessitating his transfer to a medical facility. Although his life is not in danger, he remains hospitalized and under police protection.
As for the man responsible for the shooting, he fled and his current whereabouts are unknown. Since then, the Civil Guard has been conducting all necessary operations to locate him but has so far been unsuccessful. It is suspected that he may be outside the province. Security forces are also keeping all lines of investigation open to determine the reasons behind this incident.
