The Marq Website Improves Accessibility

A museum for everyone, both physically and digitally. The Marq has implemented two new features on its website to provide more accessible information to its virtual users. This is a tool customized by experts in accessibility and usability that offers a range of technical aids for navigation.

The CV MARQ Foundation, in line with the quality policies and implementation promoted by the Alicante Provincial Council, has introduced a voice command assistant and the ability to change the design to meet various needs, such as the option to adjust text size.

These are some of the improvements on the corporate portal www.marqalicante.com that complement other features introduced in recent months, such as the virtual assistant.

The Deputy for Culture, Juan de Dios Navarro, emphasized that the goal of this initiative «is to be accessible to all audiences, a fundamental issue for a leading museum in Europe, which is why the Foundation has made enhancements to a website that is now fully navigable by anyone.»

He also noted that these processes have been included in the audits for reviewing the Accessibility University certification obtained by the CV MARQ Foundation in 2020. Navarro explained that accessibility on the museum's website «means that all users can achieve understanding, learning, navigation, and full virtual interaction».

This system improvement has been carried out with a tool installed and locatable via an icon positioned in the upper left margin of the website. By activating this symbol, a highly visible navigation bar appears at the bottom with calls to action such as «easy navigation with buttons» or «easy navigation for reduced vision,» and upon clicking these sections, a menu with various options unfolds, including sounds with large text, among other possibilities.
