The Local Police of Orihuela have conducted a raid on an establishment located on Isla de Tabarca Street, in the La Regia Urbanization, for an alleged public health offense. The establishment, apparently managed by the Cannabis Smokers Association, according to municipal sources, has been the subject of several complaints from neighbors who alerted authorities to suspicious activities inside.
In recent weeks, the Local Police had received numerous complaints related to the strong smell of marijuana emanating from the establishment. Additionally, neighbors noticed the constant comings and goings of young people, mostly tourists from the coast, who entered and left the premises in a short amount of time, according to the same sources. Given these circumstances, officers began surveillance of the location to investigate the legality of its activities.
During the investigation, Local Police attempted to access the premises on several occasions to verify documentation and conduct appropriate checks. However, they were repeatedly denied entry, according to the same sources. It wasn't until a recent inspection that officers finally managed to enter the location, also discovering a back door. At that moment, they surprised three individuals who had jumped over a fence and were attempting to flee. The three men were identified by officers and informed that they were being investigated as part of ongoing proceedings.
Upon entering the premises, police noted the absence of responsible parties and detected a strong smell of marijuana. On the left side of the bar area, which functioned as a counter, they found several indications of suspected drug sales. Among these were an electronic scale turned on and marijuana remnants, glass jars with buds labeled with names of different cannabis strains, and containers with manufactured products that apparently contained cannabis derivatives with high THC content.
Additionally, officers found several 'hashish pellets' in a small 'bottle cooler'. In the absence of a responsible party at the scene and after confirming that the three detained individuals came from inside, they were informed that they would be investigated as suspected perpetrators of a public health offense.
The investigation remains open as Local Police continue gathering evidence to fully clarify the events and determine if illicit activities occurred within the establishment.
