Intercity's coach, Alejandro Sandroni, expressed his excitement about the possibility of his team making a statement and conquering Rico Pérez this Saturday at 21:30, against Hércules. "It's a beautiful match, in an incomparable setting, with many fans in the stands... we want to show that we can compete in such an environment," said the Argentine coach.
Sandroni assured that he expects "the best Hércules" after their 4-1 defeat in Alcorcón: "What happened in Alcorcón was an accident. In this category, any team can give you a beating if you relax. I expect the best Hércules, with good players and highly motivated. We will also field good players and let's see who wins the match."
The Intercity coach praised the work of his colleague Rubén Torrecilla for lifting Hércules out of the depths of Segunda RFEF and downplayed the pressure ahead of the derby: "In Primera RFEF, Hércules should be favorites in every match they play at Rico Pérez." He added, "We go with all respect but with all the ambition in the world; fans and history don't play matches..."
Sandroni acknowledged that Álvaro Pérez is doing everything possible to overcome an injury and play at Rico Pérez. The Hércules youth player, now captain of Intercity, is willing to take an injection, and his coach needs him due to absences in the defense, although he left his participation up in the air: "If it were another match, Álvaro would be ruled out, but being against Hércules... he is trying in every way possible. He is putting all his heart into it, and then we will use our heads to make the decision. We are in week three and cannot take risks with anyone."
Finally, the Intercity coach publicly congratulated his former player Oriol Soldevila for scoring in his first two matches with Hércules and praised him highly: "Oriol is a player from another category; last year he matured in many aspects, and his good start to the league doesn't surprise me. He will go as far as he wants to go; his head rules... He has a lot of talent, and I am glad things are going well for him because he is also a good guy."
