Ouigo continues to strengthen its presence in the province of Alicante. The low-cost operator has become the second most used option for traveling to Madrid from the capital and aims to achieve the same for those wishing to travel by train from Elche.

The French-owned railway company inaugurated this Thursday the new line that connects Elche with Madrid-Chamartín. The train, which will depart from Murcia, will take about two hours and 20 minutes to reach the capital and will not divert towards Alicante.

The company's first trip took place this morning at 8:15 AM from Madrid, arriving at Elche AV around 10:35 AM. The new line will have four frequencies, two outbound and two return trips. It is estimated that up to 14,000 travelers can be transported weekly.

Tickets will be available starting at 9 euros, with a fixed fare of 7 euros for children between 4 and 13 years old, and free fare for children up to 3 years old as long as they travel on an adult's lap. The new Elche line joins the Alicante-Madrid and Valencia-Madrid lines, three clear commitments in the Valencian Community by Ouigo.
