The Department of Sports of Elche has unveiled the third edition of the Cursa de les Festes de La Baia. This sporting event, which combines competition and community, is organized by the BaiaJovens Association in collaboration with the local council. Those wishing to participate can register online until September 5th.

The councilman for sports, José Antonio Román, explained that this new edition aims to "highlight the Camp d' Elx and specifically La Baia, as well as incorporate sports into the activities of the local festivities held in honor of San Andrés." He also emphasized the council's commitment to "supporting and promoting such sporting events."

The race will take place on the afternoon of September 7th and will include three main events: the III Cursa de les Festes de La Baia, the Marxa Popular, and the Curses Infantils. The first is a 7-kilometer urban circuit that will traverse the streets of the locality, starting from the José Vicente Quiles Sports Complex. The top three finishers in each category will receive a trophy, and there will be a special cash prize of 100 euros for anyone who breaks the record.

As for the Marxa Popular, it will be held on the same day and at the same location but will cover a distance of 4.25 kilometers. This is a non-competitive event open to all participants. The Curses Infantils will take place before the other two races and will be divided into two categories: from pre-benjamín with 50 meters to juvenile with 2,000 meters. The top three in each category will receive an award, and all participants will receive a gift upon completing the race.

"The Cursa de les Festes de La Baia not only celebrates sports but also the community spirit of La Baia, offering activities for all ages and skill levels," noted Román. He further stated that "it is an opportunity to enjoy a festive atmosphere while promoting an active and healthy lifestyle."

According to Juan Antonio Sempere, head of event organization, this year they expect to reach 900 registrations, surpassing last year's participation of 700 people. During the races, there will be children's entertainment and live music, and after the awards ceremony, participants can enjoy horchata and coca boba.

Vicent Soler, representative of the Baia Jovens Association, highlighted the importance of this event which has become an annual fixture for the locality and "showcases the richness of Camp d'Elx through sports."
