The lifeguard service at the beaches of Calp, provided by the company Eulen, conducted a rescue drill this morning at Arenal Beach. The drill involved rescuing a swimmer approximately 200 meters from the shore. The swimmer was assisted by a lifeguard on the beach as well as by a company boat that transported him to the shore.

The rescued swimmer simulated being in cardiac arrest, and upon reaching the shore, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers were performed, along with the application of a defibrillator. Once the pulse was restored and the swimmer was stabilized, he was transported by the company's ambulance to Dénia Hospital.

The operation involved a skipper, four lifeguards, the post manager, the coordinator, and emergency medical technicians, as well as two agents from the Local Police and Civil Protection.

The objective of such drills is to control rescue times and ensure coordination among various lifeguards to guarantee optimal service. Additionally, these annual drills are required for the Blue Flag designation. Numerous tourists observed the drill and applauded at its conclusion, impressed by the lifeguards' professionalism.

The Councilor for Beaches, Pere Moll, the Councilor for Tourism Planning, Mireia Ripoll, and technicians from the Department of Beaches attended the drill and verified "in situ" compliance with protocols and timing.
