The Civil Guard has arrested a 43-year-old Moroccan man as the alleged perpetrator of two crimes of robbery with violence and intimidation, as well as a crime of death threats with a knife and injuries, all committed in the town of Callosa de Segura.
Investigations began on July 22, 2024, after several residents of Callosa de Segura, Cox, and Almoradí reported a series of assaults and violent robberies, according to sources from the Benemérita. The first incident occurred on July 21 in the Cruz neighborhood of Callosa de Segura, where a woman was approached by a man who, after grabbing her arm tightly and causing injuries, threatened her with a knife while chasing her down the street.
The second crime occurred on July 27 in the same location as the previous one, when a man was assaulted by another individual who threatened him with a knife, grabbed him by the neck, and stole his belongings, causing injuries that required medical attention.
The third and final assault took place during the night of August 14 to 15, during the patron saint festivities of Callosa de Segura. On this occasion, the victim was attacked with a knife near the festival tents, suffering several cuts and being transferred to Vega Baja Hospital in Orihuela for medical treatment.
Following these acts, the Investigation Area of the Main Post of the Civil Guard in Callosa de Segura took over the investigation, managing to identify the suspect thanks to a meticulous analysis of the modus operandi and physical descriptions provided by the victims. As conclusive evidence was obtained, a special security device was established in collaboration with the Local Police of Callosa de Segura, coinciding with the town's patron saint festivities.
Finally, during the early hours of August 15, after committing another robbery with violence and intimidation in which one person was injured, a search and capture operation for the suspect was activated. The perpetrator, who attempted to flee into the mountains, was ultimately apprehended by officers who proceeded with his arrest.
The detainee, who is charged with two crimes of robbery with violence and intimidation using a knife and another crime of death threats and injuries, was brought before Orihuela’s Court of Instruction No. 2, which ordered his imprisonment.
