Former Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero has urged the fight against the "reactionary offensive" affecting both Spain and the rest of the world, emphasizing the need to "overcome fake news and lies." He expressed these views during his participation in the panel 'Here we are defending democracy, recovering memory, and ensuring equality' this Friday at the 15th PSPV-PSOE Congress held this weekend in Valencia.

Furthermore, he stated that the country is also experiencing "the best moment in the history of democratic Spain" because "there is no political violence" and "after two centuries, we are not killing each other over politics." Regarding "territorial conflicts" such as Catalonia, it is "in a different phase" with the socialist president Salvador Illa, who was also present at the PSPV congress.

For all these reasons, he expressed being "very proud" of Pedro Sánchez's government and called for the fight against "any form of supremacism," as well as racism and xenophobia, referring to the US President, Donald Trump, and his advisor Elon Musk. In fact, he predicted that "if this Trumpist policy continues, the poor will have to pay taxes to the rich." Regarding the owner of Tesla, he described him as a person "without scruples or complexes."

Bernabé: "The storm has been the testing ground for the far-right"

The Government Delegate in the Valencian Community and PSOE Equality Secretary, Pilar Bernabé, considered it "evident" that the President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, is "useless" and accused him of "causing pain" to those affected by the storm by "deceiving them" into thinking they will have to return the aid received from the Spanish Government. "Enough of deceiving people and using those demagogic messages," she demanded.

"And we have turned around that testing ground they wanted to try with Valencia, we have shown during the holidays, when everyone was going home, that the State, the Government, the Armed Forces, the State Security Forces, and the UME have been there 24/7 without moving, without leaving the streets of the most affected cities. The State has been there, politics has been there," she stated.

Regarding the storm on October 29, he admitted that the "feeling of many citizens saying we should have arrived earlier" is a "convenient and necessary debate." He valued the commitment of the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, to reach "every last promised aid," something only the State can do.

"The task is wide, but the capacity is strong when there is a will to reform, when there are convictions, when there is a strong PSOE, a strong Europe, a strong Valencian Community," Zapatero acknowledged, calling for this attitude so that Diana Morant can restore the "dignity" that former President Ximo Puig left to the Valencian Community.

Zapatero joked that with Morant, he always "hits the mark," ever since he heard her in Gandia (Valencia) when she announced her intention to run for PSPV leadership: "It was the first time I heard her, I told all the citizens, forget it, Diana is going to go very far." For this reason, he emphasized the need for this PSPV Congress to be one of hope."
