The Youth Summer Programme is the summer proposal from the Youth Department of Sant Joan d'Alacant, offering teenagers an alternative, free, and quality leisure option during July.

The programme results from proposals made at the adolescent leisure forum held last November, promoted by the adolescent group of the Local Council for Children and Adolescents. It aims to be a pilot experience leading to a stable programme offering alternatives for teenagers and young people to enjoy their free time by building active, different, and participatory leisure activities based on their own proposals. The Youth Department is headed by Councillor David Aracil.

The programme kicks off with Digital Camp, a series of activities aimed at 12 to 13-year-olds, focusing on learning to use technology responsibly: protecting privacy on social networks, knowing what to share (and what not to) online, and recognising potentially risky situations. All within a practical, safe, and age-appropriate environment.

The Youth Centre, located in the Casa del Reloj, will be the hub of activities:

• Escape Room 'La Casa del Reloj', on July 4th from 8:30 PM, where the gardens will transform into a maze of puzzles designed by the Alicante-based company XDoor. Teams of teenagers aged 12 to 18 will need to cooperate against the clock to decipher clues and "escape" in time, developing conflict resolution and teamwork skills.

• Board Games Night, on July 17th from 8:30 PM, aimed at teenagers and young people aged 12 to 30, the programme shifts towards modern analogue leisure. Mini-tournaments and rotating game stations will allow participants to explore titles like Dixit, Sushi Go!, or King of Tokyo, among others, stimulating strategic thinking and communication in a relaxed environment.

• Scavenger Hunt 'The Mystery of the Casa del Reloj', on July 22nd from 8:30 PM, offers an outdoor cooperative adventure through the garden's corners with QR codes, UV flashlights, and light physical challenges. The goal: find the missing gear to ring the bell before 10:30 PM, while discovering the building's history and strengthening creativity and solidarity across ages.

These three experiences share the opportunity for attendees to stay for dinner after the activity if they bring their own meal. At the Youth Centre, the organisation will provide water and fruit.

These activities are complemented by nautical activities on July 2nd and 29th, conducted with Aloha Sport, consisting of three activities depending on the weather and sea conditions, such as paddle surfing, big paddle, surfing, bodyboarding, among others.

A drone workshop will take place on July 16th in the morning at Torre Ansaldo, involving drone assembly, operation via app, and subsequent flight practice.

To conclude the programme, in collaboration with the Municipal Library and the Terra Consortium, two workshops for teenagers will be held: Create Your Pinhole Camera on July 15th and 17th, and Create a Bag through textile reuse on July 24th.

All activities are free, but spaces are limited, so registration is required for each activity you wish to participate in. For any questions or inquiries, you can contact the Youth Department via @jovesantjoan and WhatsApp 636783222.
