Alicante experienced its first freedom race. Organised by the Civil Guard and the NGO Fiet, the sporting event aimed to raise awareness about the fight against human trafficking.

Half a thousand participants joined the race, turning the surroundings of San Juan beach into a sea of yellow.

Various authorities, both from the Civil Guard and civilians, attended the event. Among them were Colonel José Hernández Mosquera, head of the Alicante Command; Lieutenant Paula Matutano from the Technical Unit of the Judicial Police; and the commander of the service, Alberto Iniesta.

Joining them were the Government's Deputy Delegate in Alicante, Juan Antonio Nieves; Alicante City Council's Security Councillor, Julio Calero; and the executive director of the NGO Fiet, Ezequiel Escobar.
