Xixona Speeds Up Procedures to Cover Its Municipal Pool

The Town Council of Xixona has announced that it will prioritise the project to cover and climatise the municipal pool. To this end, it has included a specific budget allocation for 2025 to draft the technical project and will request an advance on the subsidy assigned for this initiative from the Alicante Provincial Council, initially planned for 2028.

The installation of a bioclimatic retractable cover will allow the facilities to be used year-round, with more efficient energy consumption. The Mayor of Xixona, Isabel López, stated that "it makes no sense to wait three years or to grant such an important aid outside the legislative framework. Our goal is clear: to draft the project this year and carry out the works as soon as possible."

A comprehensive renovation of the changing rooms is also planned, along with improvements to the entrance and overall accessibility of the complex, as well as the refurbishment of the children's pool. Additionally, a waiting area will be set up for companions—especially for parents whose children attend swimming courses—and a new space for concierge staff, which will facilitate organisation and user service.

As a novelty, the proposal also includes a picnic area with shade, tables, and benches, located next to the new entrance to the complex. This area will provide a specific space where users can eat and drink without interfering with the swimming area, thus complying with current regulations that prohibit the consumption of food and beverages within the pool complex for hygiene, health, and safety reasons.
