Xàbia Establishes First Adolescence Council

Xàbia Town Hall takes another step in its commitment to children and youth by establishing the Xàbia Adolescence Council (CAX). This new body arises from the need to make the municipality "a more welcoming place for adolescents, a space where they can develop, grow, and feel comfortable," according to a municipal statement.

For some time, Xàbia has had the Children's and Adolescents' Council, a forum where young people can express their concerns. However, it has been noted that these concerns evolve with age, leading to the creation of this new Council, focused exclusively on adolescence. Its objective, according to municipal sources, is "to allow adolescents to express themselves, promote their own projects, and contribute to the improvement of Xàbia from their perspective."

The Councillor for Children and Adolescence, Raquel Violero, previously visited all the schools to explain how the Council would function, what it means to be a councillor, and to encourage students to join this initiative. The response has been very positive, reflecting the adolescents' eagerness to be heard and contribute to their municipality.

This week marked their first meeting, where the Xàbia Adolescence Council was officially constituted. During the meeting, the young participants shared their initial ideas and proposals, marking the beginning of this new phase of youth participation in the municipality.

Violero expressed her "satisfaction" with the creation of the Council, "seeing the great involvement of the young people," and highlighted "the commitment of this town hall to listen to them and make them part of the present and future of their locality."
