Elche

Nico Fernández Marcau has to stop again, which is one of the worst pieces of news for Elche's coach, Eder Sarabia. The Argentine winger is the most disruptive attacker in the squad and had been out for four weeks due to a muscle tear. This past Sunday, Sarabia himself revealed that the player had suffered a new injury in the rectus femoris of the quadriceps, which will force him to stop for several weeks.
"We had set some timelines for his return. He has had a relapse. It's not much, but we can't take risks," explained Elche's coach after the match against Racing (2-0). The coach did not venture to predict a recovery period, although he did indicate that the Argentine midfielder will be "out for a few weeks." "Let's see how he evolves," added the Basque coach, who recalled that Elche has other players in the squad "who are doing very well" to cover for Nico Fernández's absence.
Meanwhile, forward Óscar Plano downplayed the defeat against Racing de Santander and the loss of the leadership, reminding that his team "is still in the fight" for promotion, and advocated for maintaining "calm." "This is a long-distance race and there are many points left," emphasized the Madrid attacker, who assured that losing the top spot should not affect the Elche team "at all."
"We have to stay there for the rest of the season and hopefully in the final rounds we can be among the top two," said Óscar Plano, who, despite the defeat against a direct rival, assured that the feelings his team conveys are "good." "We need to stay calm and see where we went wrong. There are many points left," commented the attacker, who is already focused on the next match against Castellón at the Martínez Valero.
"We have to get through it," asserted the Madrid native, who said he is feeling better and "gaining sensations to help the team and be available for whatever the coach needs. The team is doing well and every player coming off the bench is contributing a lot," concluded the veteran forward, who is expected to make a difference in the final stretch of the league.
