The Elda City Council continues to advance in the restoration of the Castle-Palace with the initiation of the contracting process for the works of a new phase of the Master Plan. The Departments of Historical Heritage and Urban Planning have taken the first administrative step, marking the continuation of efforts to restore and enhance the flagship of Elda's heritage, with a budget of 400,000 euros.

These works aim to restore the entrance gate and the south facade, which includes the T2 tower that will regain its original cylindrical shape. The restoration is part of a project funded by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, with funds from the European Union, within a program aimed at the conservation of historical heritage.

With these works, the Elda City Council takes an important step to recover and protect one of the city's most emblematic symbols, improving its condition and making it more accessible for residents, visitors, and future generations. This is complemented by the comprehensive redevelopment of the roads leading to the castle: Virtudes, Pilares, Sibila de Fortia, and Magdalena Maestre streets.

"This intervention brings us closer to the period of greatest splendour of the Palace, restoring its south facade, the one we see from the city, and part of the second circular base tower," said the Councillor for Historical Heritage, Iñaki Pérez Rico. With the recovery of the adjacent streets, "we will ensure that our historic centre becomes a source of pride for the people of Elda, advancing its regeneration to make the heart and origin of Elda vibrant once again, as it was when our grandparents strolled through it, as in the more than eight centuries that its streets marked the boundaries of life in the then town."

Meanwhile, the Councillor for Urban Planning, Jesús Sellés, added that "this action is very important for the urban structuring of the Historic Centre of our city, continuing with the fulfilment of the milestones set in the Elda 2030 Strategic Plan, approved unanimously by the Municipal Plenary."
