The Federation of Health and Social Sectors, FSS CCOO PV, in L'Alacantí-Les Marines held a second rally this morning, joined by UGT-PV, to demand dignified wages and the subrogation of staff from the Center for Homeless Reception and Integration (CAI) in the new tender.
Over a hundred employees expressed their opposition to the local government's decision to cut services and staff dedicated to caring for the homeless. The so-called "shameful contract" eliminates basic services such as kitchen, nursing, integration programs, maintenance, and clothing distribution. Additionally, it reduces the number of professionals and does not respect the right of staff to be subrogated—34 individuals, some with up to 22 years of service.
The Tacrc (Central Administrative Tribunal of Contractual Resources) has suspended the contracting procedure as a precautionary measure until a final resolution is issued by the same tribunal.
Meanwhile, the CCOO and UGT unions will continue their protests until the City Council rectifies and withdraws a contract that "harms the homeless in Alicante and disadvantages the professionals who care for them," according to the organizing associations.
