The National Police have arrested a 44-year-old woman in the city of Alicante who had falsely claimed to be a victim of a robbery. During the investigation, officers also discovered that the alleged perpetrator had committed several fraud offenses, amounting to a total of 19,800 euros.

The woman told the police that she had withdrawn 300 euros from an ATM and, after consuming several alcoholic beverages at a local bar, returned home in the early hours of the morning. It was at this point that a young man allegedly assaulted her at her doorstep, stealing her money and documents after a struggle.

According to a statement from the security forces, the investigation began following the woman's false report. She described the assault and claimed that the man had managed to flee after the robbery. A few days later, the false victim returned to the police station to provide more information. The woman, visibly nervous and sobbing, explained that she did not remember the events clearly due to the alcohol she had consumed but insisted that the events had occurred as she initially described.

Investigators were able to confirm that her statements were false. The bar where she claimed to have been drinking was not open on that day, and she had not taken the route she claimed to have taken to return home.

In fact, as officers delved deeper into the case, they were able to link several fraud offenses to this false report. Apparently, a bank account had been opened in the name of the woman using the supposed ID card that was allegedly stolen during the violent robbery.

Several financial transactions amounting to a total of 19,800 euros had been carried out with this new account. In some of these transactions, the beneficiary appeared to be the same woman who reported the false events. These offenses were already being investigated by another specialized unit of the National Police.

The false victim was arrested in Alicante and charged with the alleged crime of falsifying a report for now, while the fraud cases are still under investigation. The proceedings were processed and sent to the Guard Court of Instruction in Alicante.
