On Monday, a woman was injured in Alcoi due to an explosion during the Moors and Christians festival, which the town has been celebrating since last Saturday and concludes this Monday with the 'Día dels trons'.

The injured woman, a member of the Aragoneses filà, was participating in the Alardo event, which recreates a gunpowder battle. It appears that, for reasons yet unknown, the canteen she was carrying exploded. Each participant in the event carries gunpowder in these canteens to reload the blank-firing blunderbusses used for shooting.

The explosion also affected another person, who was also a participant, and was treated at the scene of the accident, thus not requiring hospital assistance. However, the main victim was taken to the Hospital Verge dels Lliris in Alcoi to be treated for her burns.

The members of the Aragonesos filà, who hold the Christian captaincy this year, continued their participation in the event but ceased firing.
