Woman Fatally Struck by Train Near Alicante's Palmeral

Tragedy strikes in Alicante at the start of the week. A woman was killed around 6 PM this evening after being hit by a commuter train near Alicante's Palmeral, as confirmed by investigation sources to this newspaper. The victim was a 24-year-old foreign woman.

While the causes of the accident are still under investigation, initial findings suggest that the woman may have been distracted while talking on her mobile phone near the train tracks. Currently, one lane of Elche Avenue heading towards Alicante remains closed, as several National and Local Police cars and funeral services are present at the scene.
