A Man with a Covered Face Assaults a Young Woman in Her Apartment Hallway in Alcoi

Tremendous fright for a 20-year-old woman in Alcoi after being assaulted by a thief in her apartment hallway. Fortunately, the National Police have arrested the alleged criminal, a 39-year-old Moroccan citizen, who had a history of domestic violence and breach of restraining orders, as reported by TodoAlicante.

The incident occurred when the victim was returning home. As she inserted the key into the lock of the hallway door, an individual assaulted her. The young woman attempted to flee and run to her apartment, but the assailant snatched her bag and took it. The thief kept the wallet and discarded the accessory on the ground.

During the incident, the thief concealed his face with a grey scarf with black stripes, but the young woman managed to see his face during the struggle due to a momentary lapse, according to investigation sources. During the inquiries, a neighbour told the officers she saw a man following the girl but did not think much of it as she assumed he was a friend.

After the assault, the victim was attended to by medical services. The medical report describes that the young woman suffered an abrasion on her right forearm due to the struggle. Additionally, the victim is experiencing anxiety disorder, as the incident has caused her a strong fear of being alone, especially since it occurred right in her apartment hallway, according to the same sources.

The detainee, legally residing in Spain, is accused of robbery with violence and intimidation. After appearing before the Alcoi Court, he has been released with charges.

This incident occurred just days after a robbery at an office in the same town, where injuries and a mobile phone revealed the culprit, a known criminal with 63 arrests for crimes against property and individuals.

The thief took a mobile phone, cash, personal documents of a client and his family, and four accounting books. The stolen device and a witness's statement exposed him, and the National Police arrested him. Like the young woman's assailant, he was released with precautionary measures after appearing before the Alcoi Court.
