Julen Lopetegui's tenure at West Ham came to an end this Wednesday, after just half a season in which the Basque manager failed to achieve results that matched the expectations at the London club. Currently fourteenth in the English Premier League after 20 matches, the team remains comfortably above the relegation zone but far from the top of the table, which was the Hammers' aspiration at the start of the season.
"The first half of the 2024-25 season has not aligned with the Club's ambitions, and therefore, the Club has taken action in line with its objectives. Assistant coach Pablo Sanz, performance manager Óscar Caro, chief analyst Juan Vicente Peinado, fitness coach Borja de Alba, and technical coach Edu Rubio have also left their positions with immediate effect. The Board wishes to thank Julen and his staff for their hard work during their time with the Hammers and wishes them much success in the future," stated West Ham in the official announcement, confirming what had been an open secret in recent days following the painful defeat to Liverpool in the last matchday.
